The reality of toilet access

Two-thirds of the world's population does not have access to properly managed and safe sanitation facilities.

The risks of insecurity and the spread of disease must be controlled to ensure the health of populations throughout the world. Some associations are mobilizing to provide access to drinking water, toilets or even hygiene facilities and products.

What does this lack of sanitary spaces imply?

  • About 2 billion people drink water contaminated with faeces;

  • Manure ends up in fields, crops and soils, contaminating food sources;

  • Every day, more than 1000 children die because of the unsanitary conditions of the water they drink;

  • Risks of abuse, violence and aggression for many women and young girls due to the lack of secure facilities (roof, lock, light, etc.);

  • Spread of epidemics such as cholera, dysentery, hepatitis A or even typhoid.

Good hygiene, safe water and water sanitation would save many lives. By 2030, nations commit to ensuring universal access to drinking water, hygiene and sanitation.

Let us be grateful to have access to these privileges!
