Our flagship material after bamboo!
Changing regulations are gradually threatening single-use plastic (which is a good thing!). The food packaging industry must reinvent itself to cope with these changes. Although new eco-responsible materials are emerging, we must make judicious choices in the face of the multitude of solutions available to us.
Among these new sustainable materials, we find bagasse, which we have more than adopted!
Bagasse is the fibrous residue of sugar cane that has been passed through the mill to extract the juice. It is composed mainly of cellulose from the plant. In recent years, bagasse has been used for food packaging. It is a good alternative to plastic and polystyrene. Bagasse has no impact on health and is compostable and biodegradable in just 45 days. What should have become waste is recovered and reused. The plant is fully used.
The cultivation of sugar cane is, like bamboo, a sustainable crop thanks to the speed of growth of the plant, which grows in 18 months maximum.
In addition to its ecological advantages, bagasse is resistant to grease and completely waterproof. No risk of leaking with this material. It is even more resistant than cardboard. It resists extreme temperatures: resists freezing and can be used to boil food. It can even be used in the microwave.
It is therefore a safe resource that is neutral on health and the environment.
We were seduced by the properties of this material with multiple advantages:
Ideal for takeaway and alternative to plastic products;
Waterproof, grease resistant;
Heat resistant: usable in the traditional oven or microwave up to 100 degrees;
Can be frozen
More airtight than cardboard: keeps food warm;
Lightweight and easy handling;
Opt for sustainability, stand out from your competitors and offer innovative and renewable alternatives to your customers. We support you in your transition!
