PFAS, or per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, are a group of more than four thousand chemical compounds. These substances have non-stick, waterproofing properties, resistant to high heat and are widely used in industrial and consumer sectors. They are mostly found in textiles, paper, food packaging, cosmetics, phytosanitary products and many others,…
Analyzes of toilet paper samples from around the world detected 6 out of 34 PFAS compounds. These perennial pollutants contaminate toilet paper and wastewater. They are called “perennial contaminants” because they persist for very long periods and can bioaccumulate in the food chain.

PFAS are contained in wetting agents used to increase the efficiency of the process of pulping wood into paper. They are therefore found in toilet paper.
What are the risks ?
Toilet paper contributes almost 90% to the presence of this eternal pollutant. However, these substances are toxic and harmful to human and animal health. Among the risks identified, we find cancers, fertility disorders and even cardiovascular problems. This is therefore a public health problem that should not be taken lightly.
These substances, in addition to being used in the production of paper, including toilet paper, are also found in soap, cleaning products, textile production, etc.
What if we boycotted these harmful substances by consuming more responsibly? A plus for our health and our environment!
